Collaboration as a Shared Service

Chris Britton - 20 December 2016

Objective Connect now supports multiple workgroups for organisations with an Enterprise subscription. This enables organisations to have separate workgroups for individual departments or business units with differing collaboration needs.

As each workgroup has their own unique set of Administrators and Members, it provides an assurance that differing forms of collaboration are segregated from each other and provides complete control over who can participate in differing collaborative spaces.

A Single Secure Collaboration Platform for an Entire Organisation

Objective Connect already ticks many of the boxes required by a CIO of a Public Sector or regulated organisation through:

  • Assured data sovereignty through local hosting on Microsoft Azure
  • Unlimited user licensing – licensing is consumption based and recyclable
  • Free (self-configured) external participant licensing
  • Certified security
  • Complete traceability of every interaction
  • Optional deep integration with the information governance model that is already built into the document management system

Support for Multiple Workgroups adds to this, by enabling CIO’s to provide a single secure collaboration platform across an organisation. It provides a unified experience, minimizing training requirements across an organisation, especially one that has recently merged or amalgamated.

Workgroups can easily be provisioned (and de-provisioned) as required. Similarly, IT can easily manage onboarding and off boarding of team members with the use of the ‘transfer ownership’ function.

Shared Pool of Connections

Rather than managing separate subscriptions for each department, a single subscription can be purchased for the entire organisation. Each workgroup then shares from a combined pool of Connections. A ‘real-time’ dashboard view of all workgroups ensures the IT Team retains control and provides a simple view of each departments consumption, allowing for simplified cross-charging.

Individual Integration

Along with unique branding, each workgroup can also have individual integration. For example, one workgroup can be integrated with Objective ECM and another be integrated to HPE Content Manager or Microsoft SharePoint. Alternatively, whilst one or more workgroups are integrated, additional workgroups can also run standalone.
